OLD AND/OR NEW BUSINESS:

After receiving a cleanup letter from the City Inspector, Mr. Tipton Pugh was present to state that he had a problem with the letter. Mr. Pugh stated that his son had been trying to clean the property but the weather had caused a delay. He said that after the cleanup was completed, that he called Mr. Gober to come inspect the site and that he did not show up for two weeks. He said that he was offended by the methods used. Mayor Poole apologized and said that the City wanted to be a business friendly community. Mayor Poole also said that there was room for improvement with the city-owned properties. There is a need for all to work together and assured Mr. Pugh that he was not singled out.

Mr. Charles Cingolani was present to protest the payment of occupation tax. He said that it was not the money involved but the principal. He said that everyone should have to pay or none pay. Mayor Poole stated that this was the only way to regulate business opening in the city and also a headache to collect.

Mr. Pugh made a request to the city to close the street adjoining the "Dreyfus" property. Attorney Drake will advise the legal procedures.

HEALTH CARE: A discussion was held on the health care problem. The present carrier is entering into a receivership and a new provider was needed. Two presentations had been presented and Mayor Poole requested a motion to accept the United Healthcare package offered by Southeast Insurance. Alderman Rogers made the motion to approve, seconded by Alderman Gill. Motion carried.
