McGehee City Council Minutes

October 10, 2000

 

The McGehee City Council met in regular session on October 10, 2000 at 5:30 P.M.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Poole, Alderman: Mike Rogers, F. H. Gill, Mrs. Jimmie Perkins, Al Murphy,
City Attorney Drake, Fire Chief Allen, Police Chief Farrell and Ambulance Director John Millwood.

MINUTES: After reading the September minutes a motion was made by Alderman Murphy, seconded by Alderman
Gill. Motion Carried.

TREASURY REPORTS: Alderman Gill made the motion to accept the reports as presented, seconded byAlderman
Murphy. Motion Carried.

BILLS: Alderman Murphy made the motion to pay all bills, seconded by Alderman Rogers. Motion Carried.

OLD AND/OR NEW BUSINESS:

ORDINANCE # 728 AN ORDINANCE ASSESSING A 4. MILL TAX AGAINST THE REAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF MCGEHEE, ARKANSAS FOR THE TAXABLE YEAR 2000.
(General Fund)

And Attorney Drake read the Ordinance in full. Alderman Perkins, seconded by Alderman Gill moved that the rule
requiring the reading of an ordinance or resolution in full on three different days be suspended and that the Ordinance
be placed on its second reading. The Mayor put the question on the adoption of the motion and the roll being called,
the following voted aye: 4 and the following voted nay: 0.

Thereupon, the Mayor declared that at least two-thirds of all members of the Council having voted in favor of the motion
to suspend the rule, the motion was carried and the rule suspended. The Ordinance was then read by Attorney Drake.
Alderman Murphy seconded by Alderman Perkins moved that the rule requiring the reading of an ordinance in full on three different days be further suspended and that the ordinance be placed on its third reading. The Mayor put the question on the adoption of the motion and the roll being called, the following voted aye: 4 ; and the following voted nay: 0. The Mayor
declared that at least two-thirds of all members elected to the Council having voted in favor of the motion to suspend the
rule, the motion was carried and the rule suspended. The ordinance was then read by the City Attorney. Alderman Perkins, seconded by Alderman Rogers moved that the ordinance be adopted. The question was put by the Mayor on the adoption
of the motion and the roll being called the following voted aye: 4 ; and the following voted nay: 0. The Mayor declared the Ordinance adopted and signed the Ordinance which was attested by the City Clerk and impressed with the seal of the City.
