McGehee City Council Minutes

May 8, 2001

 

The McGehee City Council met in regular session on May 8, 2001 at 5:30p.m.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Poole, Aldermen: Mark Day, Mike Rogers, Ricky Lattimore, Linda Hardin, F. H. Gill,
Mrs. Jimmie Perkins, City Attorney Drake, Police Chief Farrell, Fire Chief Allen and City Inspecter Gober.

MINUTES: Alderman Day made the motion to approve the reading of the April minutes, seconded by Alderman Hardin.
Motion carried.

TREASURY REPORT: After a review of the reports, Alderman Gill made the motion to accept the reports as presented, seconded by Alderman Perkins. Motion carried.

BILLS: After a discussion of park expenses and out-of-town repairs and purchases, a motion was made by Alderman
Gill to pay all bills, seconded by Alderman Hardin. Motion carried.

MOSQUITO CONTROL: Alan Loe was present to give the activity report for the month of April. Extensive larviciding
by ground and air will begin in the month of May.

OLD AND/OR NEW BUSINESS:

Mayor announced that the contract for the removal of the radio tower had been awarded. Discussion was held on the
abandoned and non-running vehicles. An inventory was included in the folders. Owners are being notified and 56
vehicles have been identified. Carport housing was also included in the discussion.

POLICE REPORTS: Mayor Poole stated that the Juvenile Detention Center in Dermott will be closed in June. There
were no questions pertaining to the reports.

WATER COMPANY REPORTS. No Questions

RESOLUTION # 351: A RESOLUTION DECLARING CERTAIN PROPERTIES TO BE A NUISANCE.
(Property owned by Mrs. Mary Schnyder at 808 N. 2nd.)

Alderman Hardin made the motion to adopt Resolution #351, seconded by Alderman Gill. Motion Carried.

City Attorney Drake gave an update of the Albert Rowland lawsuit. He said that he had filed for summary judgement.

City Inspecter Gober announced that a fish fry would be held at the Yellow Bend Port and invited the council to attend.

Mayor Poole announced that the Municipal League Convention will be held in Little Rock in June.

Mr. Rancifer (from the audience) questioned the council about old cars under the old Bus Depot. After discussion, it was
decided to let the Judge make the decision as to the legality of Mr. Rancifer.

Alderman Rogers asked the council about the Ordinance pertaining to 18 wheelers on city streets. Mayor Poole stated
there was an ordinance and the Chief would look into the situation.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
