McGehee City Council Minutes
March 6, 2001
The McGehee City Council met on March 6, 2001 at 5:30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Poole, Aldermen:
Mrs. Perkins, F. H. Gill, Linda Hardin, Mike Rogers, Mark Day,
Attorney Mark Drake, and Chief Farrell. Mayor Poole announced that Ricky Lattimore
was out because of family illness.
MINUTES: The minutes were read.
Mrs. Perkins noted that the time of the I-69 meeting was from 4:30 until 7:00
on
March 13, instead of 7:00 as read. F. H. Gill made a motion to accept the
minutes and Mike Rogers seconded.
TREASURY REPORT: After a review of the report a motion was made by Alderman Gill and seconded by Mark Day.
BILLS: Mayor Poole said that the
council would like a complete list of the prior month's bills included in
their folders.
Motion was made by F. H Gill to pay the bills seconded by Linda Hardin.
OLD/AND OR NEW BUSINESS: Mayor
Poole said that the City requested an extension on the depot project of
another six months. This is the only opportunity to ask for an extension.
He asked if anyone had any ideas to speed up the process of obtaining the
depot.
He announced that Spring Cleanup will
begin on March 12. He said this cleanup would help with the overall appearance
of our City. Alderman Gill asked whether it would be possible to have a cleanup
period twice a year. Mayor Poole said
that it might help to have it Spring and Fall. Mrs. Swindler asked what could
be done to encourage people to clean lots and remove the appliances, auto,
etc. Mayor Poole said the code enforcement and the City will have to start
enforcing the laws.
Mayor Poole said that no action has been
taken on the Jail contract. The City would like to help Dermott so that to
create
jobs but Attorney Drake needs to review all aspects of the contract before
we make a decision.
POLICE REPORTS: Alderman Gill asked
about the 911 situation. Chief Farrell said that they average approximately
200 calls per month.
Water Co. Reports: No questions.
Mosquito Control: No questions
There being no further business Mike Rogers made the motion to adjourn and F. H. Gill seconded.
