McGehee City Council Minutes
January 9, 2001
Judge Gibbs Ferguson was present to swear in five aldermen and City Attorney
Drake. The Aldermen were: Mark Day,
Mike Rogers, Ricky Lattimore, Linda Hardin and F. H. Gill. Jimmie Perkins
failed to file by the deadline, thus creating a
vacancy.
Mayor Poole called the meeting to order.
Members present: Aldermen: Mark
Day, Mike Rogers, Ricky Lattimore, Linda Hardin, F. H. Gill, City Attorney
Drake,
Fire Chief Allen and Ambulance Director Millwood.
Minutes: After the reading of the
December minutes, a motion was made by Alderman Rogers, seconded by Alderman
Gill
to approve as read. Motion carried.
Treasury Reports: Alderman Day
made the motion to accept the reports as presented, seconded by Alderman Gill.
Motion carried.
Bills: Alderman Gill made the motion to pay all bills, seconded by Alderman Day. Motion carried.
2001 Budget: The 2001 budget was
presented for passage. Mayor Poole stated this was the first budget to exceed
two million dollars. The budget included a 2% employee raise with the exception
of the police department. An updated
salary schedule has been set for certified and non-certified officers. Alderman
Rogers made the motion to approve the
budget, seconded by Alderman Gill. Motion carried.
Old and/or New Business: Discussion was held on the moving of the building permits back to the complex. The same procedures will be followed. Alderman Gill made the motion for the move, seconded by Alderman Day. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on the increase of Aldermen's salary from $135.00 to $200.00 per month. No action was taken.
Police Reports: No questions.
Water Company Reports: No questions.
Municipal Court Summary: The summary
showed the difference in the revenues in 2000 over the year 1999. Mayor
Poole stated that the county was going to pay half the clerk and deputy clerk's
salaries. Mayor said that some changes
would be made in the court procedures that would be determined in the Legislative
session.
State of the City Report: Mayor
briefly expanded on some of the differences in the City from the previous
year. We
have had several businesses closing and four were burned out. He said that
revenues were less and expenses higher.
He predicted 2001 to be a good year providing that everyone worked together
in keeping the cost down.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
