OLD and/or NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Alan Loe presented the mosquito control report early because he had to leave. Also discussed was the spraying of the ball park.
Mayor Poole welcomed the large number of visitors present. They expressed concern about the adult arcades. Attorney Drake was requested to address the problem. Attorney Drake said the arcades operate under the Chucky Cheese Law. The State Police had shut down the local arcades and the City could do nothing at the present. He said that occupation tax and zoning ordinances could regulate the locations of arcades if necessary. Discussion was held on the investigations, laws and guidelines. Mayor said the arcade problems could not be solved tonight and asked Attorney Drake and the citizens for suggestions for the future. Attorney Drake will continue to do research on the problem.
Mayor recognized Eddie Allen and John Millwood. They reported that the ambulance service had been upgraded. John said it would be a heavy weight but would provide a more advanced level of care for the citizens of our area.
Mayor Poole said that about 64% of the census had been turned in and asked that everyone please fill out the form and return. He said that Jack May was the local co-ordinator and that anyone could call the Chamber of Commerce for assistance.
Mr. Cunningham stated that the speed of traffic in front of the post office was going to get someone hurt. Mayor Poole requested that Chief Farrell check into the problem. Chief Farrell said that they would enforce this and will write tickets in excess of 6 miles over the speed limit which is 35.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
