McGehee City Council Minutes
June 6, 2000
The McGehee City Council met in regular session on June 6, 2000 at 5:30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Poole, Aldermen: Mark Day, Mike Rogers, Ricky Lattimore, Al Murphy, F.H. Gill, Mrs. Jimmie Perkins, City Attorney Drake, Police Chief Farrell and City Inspector Gober .
MINUTES: After the reading of the May minutes, Alderman Day made the motion to approve, seconded by Alderman Gill. Motion carried.
TREASURY REPORTS: The reports were reviewed and Alderman Day made the motion to approve, seconded by Alderman Rogers. Motion carried. A reminder was made to department heads to try to curtail spending for the remainder of the year.
BILLS: Alderman Murphy made the motion to pay all bills, seconded by Alderman Rogers. Motion carried. OLD and/or NEW
BUSINESS: Mayor Poole recognized Randy Cox. Mr. Cox's complaint was about loose dogs. He presented a list of 32 names with approximately 40 dogs in a 3 block area. He said that 27 of these dogs were the only ones kept penned. He stated that he had called the police department numerous times. Alderman Rogers said this had been a problem before and recommended that the control officer work different hours. Chief Farrell stated that he would make the schedule more flexible. Mayor Poole also recommended issuing tickets and to make a further effort to enforce the lease law.
Kenny Gober announced that the meeting with ADFA in Little Rock went well. He said that the Mayor and 3 Councilmen attended with him.
POLICE DEPARTMENT: A discussion was held on house and business alarms and the response to the calls.
WATER COMPANY REPORTS: No questions.
MOSQUITO CONTROL: A representative from VDCI was present to give the May report. He said that May showed low numbers of mosquitoes. A trap on North 3rd had the highest collection. An increase is expected as temperatures rise and rice fields are flooded. A discussion was held on the comparison of this year with last year at this time of year. Mayor Poole suggested the ball park committee appoint a coordinator to work out a spray schedule with VDCI. DarrenGill was a name recommended.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
